The Log of Bao Bao

A record of my journey to Maunga-huna, in the wake of the eruption.

Day 1: An Ally in the Ash

The quest to save the Menehune of Maunga-huna has begun. My journey started with a detour toward a plume of smoke. There I found a paranoid hermit, wary of outsiders. I was able to calm him with careful words, earning his trust. He warned me of the Dowelloft Trading Company's evil and, as a sign of solidarity, gifted me a pouch of purifying Fire-Salt to serve as a catalyst.

Day 2: The Way of Peace

I reached the Sunken Heart Grotto. My knowledge of life energy allowed me to psionically soothe the living coral gate, which granted me peaceful passage. Inside, I found a side passage that bypassed the main chamber's skeletal guardians, leading me to a beautiful alcove of giant, psionic anemones. Recognizing the Fire-Salt I carried, they bestowed a blessing of mental clarity upon me. I then returned to the main chamber and successfully pacified the skeletal guardians with a calming wave of diplomacy. I passed through the entire grotto without a single misstep or act of violence.

Day 2: Prudence and Proof

After gathering the Heart-Lichen, I returned to Maunga-huna and spotted the DTC agents. I chose to scout their landing site from a safe distance. The effort was rewarded when I discovered a datapad containing incriminating intelligence. With this proof in hand, I felt a direct confrontation was still too risky and slipped away to the village undetected.

Day 3: A Meticulous Cure

Within the Menehune village, I was met by a grieving father, whom I successfully calmed, earning the full support of the local healers. Bolstered by the hermit's catalyst and the anemones' blessing, I set to my task. The intricate work was still a great challenge, and I managed to succeed on two of the three critical steps. The result is a potent antidote that, while not perfect, will be enough to save the vast majority of the afflicted.

Day 4: The Burden of Choice

My mission has been a success. The Menehune have a cure, and I hold proof of the DTC's crimes. With several options before me on how to use this information, I have decided to wait. This is a burden the entire party should share. When my friends return, we will decide on a course of action as one.
